As usual there are a lot of things going on right now.

I'm building a mountain bike...actually restoring one I had from 15 years ago or so that sat in my parent garage. Its pretty fun and I'm learning a lot about how bikes work while putting it all back together. I'm excited to see the finished product and get it onto a trail.

I'm also still doing a few modifications to the civic. I need to finish the rear disc brake swap that seems to be taking forever. I'm really taking my time to make sure the parts I get are quality and at really low prices. I also found an AEM air intake in my garage that I forgot I had. I'm stripping it right now and then I'll be sending that and my valve cover in to be powder coated the same color. I'm hoping it turns out well. I'm calling in a favor for the powder coat so I won't actually have to pay anything for that.

The band is also starting to make things happen again. We are playing Tucson, Phoenix and Albuquerque next weekend with a band called Take Control from Iowa. They are some of the best guys I have ever met so I'm really excited to be able to hang out with them again. We also got booked to play a show in Santa Barbara later this month so that should be really fun too. These will be our first show outside of AZ.
We also started writing again. We have three new songs that we will be playing at our next few shows. We need to write one more and then hopefully we will be heading in to record those songs for a 7". I love recording so I'm really looking forward to that.

I'm playing bass in my aunt's wedding in July too and I'm pretty stoked about that. Outside of the obvious reason for excitement it is going to be really nice to be in Colorado during one of the hottest months in AZ. I'm hoping to get the pickup fixed in my black widow bass so I can play it up there. If not, then I'll take my Schecter.

Between band stuff and going to Colorado I'm going to be getting out of AZ quite a bit this summer. I love to travel, especially when its hot in AZ, so I'm completely okay with this.

I feel really busy right now but I'm also having a really good time lately.

Stop Drop and Roll

A few months ago the vent in our bathroom shorted out and caught fire. The plastic surround melted and was literally dropping fireballs into our bathroom. It was all quite delightful. Anyway, we finally got a chance to start on the project and see exactly what the damage is. We ended up having to remove a portion of the drywall and discovered three very interesting things:
1. The hose that would connect the vent to the ceiling was missing, letting leaves and other random things fall onto the insulation, which then landed on the wiring that shorted out.

2. There is hardly any insulation in the ceiling.

3. The bathroom wasn't built using green board.

I'm planning to fix the first two, and will replace the drywall we removed with green board to at least make that situation a bit better. I figure that should take up the next few weekends in my life but it will be nice to upgrade the insulation before the summer weather hits.

To Do List

I got to take care of a few things at the house that I've been meaning to do for awhile now. I got a "from dusk till dawn" light fixture for our front patio and a new fixture on the back patio. We also went to the Habitat For Humanity ReStore yesterday with our friend Marion and got a brand new light fixture to replace the gross brass one that is currently in our house. Their light fixtures are all brand new and 70% off on Saturdays. Our 90 dollar light fixture ended up only costing 13.50!
Our new roommate also moved in yesterday and we are pretty excited about that. He is a good dude and laid back so I think he will fit in nicely at our place.

Pictures

We started getting some of our prints and records framed and put a few of them up today, along with a skate deck that was a special run from Sarah's favorite band, Ignite. The print to the right of it is a limited 1/10 by a local artist, Jsn Anthony (www.jsnanthony.com)
The other pictures we hung up are the "Jazz Impressions of New York" 12" by Dave Brubeck, AFI "Answer That And Stay Fashionable" 12" by AFI (the cover is a ripoff from the movie "Reservoir Dogs, a Tarantino movie), a poster that was from a Stretch Arm Strong tour, and a picture that Sarah's Mom gave us. The quote says, "Music can change the world".

That's it for now. We have more pictures to get framed but those things cost money so progress will probably be slow as far as getting everything on the wall. Slow progress is still progress though.
